Cabinet Approves New National Pensions Board

The Ministry of Caymanian Employment and Immigration (MCEI) has announced that Cabinet has approved the appointment of members to the National Pensions Board. These appointments were made in line with Section 78 of the National Pensions Act (2024 Revision).

The updated composition of the National Pensions Board includes one re-appointment and ten (10) new appointments who will serve until 31 August 2027. With these additions, the Board now comprises a total of eleven members.

Members of the National Pensions Board:

  • Peter Huber – Chairperson
  • Matthew Taber – Deputy Chairperson
  • Lauren Christie - Member
  • William Graves – Member
  • Bradley Ashton – Member
  • Joel Burke – Member
  • Ivan Sutlic – Member 
  • Dr. Karie Bergstrom – Member 
  • Rhiannan Williams – Member 
  • Steven Manning – Member 
  • Aimee Bush – Member 

MCEI highlights that the newly appointed Board represents a strong mix of professionals with proven industry experience, reinforcing public confidence in the governance of the national pension system.

Hon. Minister Michael Myles stated, “These appointments directly align with the Government’s Broad Outcome of systems that support a highly skilled and adaptable Caymanian population. By appointing a strong, industry-qualified National Pensions board, we are reinforcing the integrity and sustainability of our pension system. Strengthening pension governance is a key part of building long-term financial stability and supporting the overall well-being of our people.” 

The Board has the following duties under Section 80 of the National Pensions Act:

a) hear, consider and determine decisions appealed in accordance with Part XIII of the Act;

b) promote the establishment, extension and improvement of pension plans throughout the Islands;

c) advise the Minister in respect of the business of the Board; and

d) make recommendations to the Minister in respect of pension plans.
