Overview

This is a seasonal position offered on a six (6) month contract. Workdays and hours are scheduled on a rotational basis and may be adjusted in accordance with business demands. The successful applicant will be required to work weekends, public holidays, and split shifts as necessary, and must be prepared to perform a variety of duties as operational needs require.

The CTC offers a competitive benefits package, which includes five (5) paid vacation days, five (5) paid sick days, one (1) paid personal day, 50% contribution toward Pension, and 50% contribution toward Health Insurance. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary for this position is Grade “Q” at KYD $3,003.00 per month.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare meal ingredients, including washing, peeling, cutting, and slicing.
  • Assist with food preparation for all outlets, buffets, events, and special functions.
  • Set up, maintain, and break down buffets as directed.
  • Receive and properly store deliveries; assist with unloading supply trucks.
  • Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using both machine and manual methods.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dishwashing areas, and restaurant spaces (sweeping, mopping, garbage removal, spill control).
  • Operate and maintain the dishwasher; report any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and injury.
  • Assist with clearing and cleaning tables as needed.
  • Support smooth operations of the restaurant, including Café Silver Thatch and the Food Truck.
  • Attend staff meetings and perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • A certificate of food hygiene would be an asset but not required for hire.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Previous Customer Service experience.
  • Food Handlers Certificate. Food Preparation Safety knowledge
  • Maintaining a valid Driver’s license would be an asset but not required.
